Day 32: tensite at 615 to mountain pass at 644. 29 miles.

August 7.

Without a doubt one of my favorite days so far.

Started by being able to use a pit toilet which is always a nice start to the day. Didn’t get water the night before which I need to remember to always do because not having water in the morning sucks.

I got into the Jefferson Wilderness area which has amazing views of Mt Jefferson in the background. It was such a beautiful section which pretty lakes and meadows. I stopped by one of the little lakes for a second breakfast and to just take it all in. There were little paw prints all over, from foxes or coyotes, or something.

Post-hike note: I’m writing this over a year from the hike. I only filled in a few notes because I was tried from the day. Here’s the bulletpoints I made:

Jefferson Park
Burn area
Dry stretch with no water
Rockpile lake
More burn
Gross pond
PCT alternate
Hike uphill

Three finger jack

I made it to the pass at Three Fingered Jack where I watched a spectacular sunset with Trouble and Rogue.

Rogue is carrying an ice axe still because he didn’t want to mail it. Idk either. But the sunset was pretty.

I decided to cowboy right there and then, right at the top of the pass in a small little windy spot with mountain goats all around, Three Finger Jack watching over me. I talked to Mup which was a great way to end my day too, hearing her voice.
